St. Margaret of Cortona Church, fish fry dinners for Lent, 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Fridays, through April 11, at the church building, 1600 N. Hague Ave. Dinners include fried ocean perch or baked cod, fries or baked potato, cole slaw, applesauce, rolls and homemade desserts. Cost is $9.50 for adults, $9 for seniors, $4.50 for children ages 10 and younger and free for those under 3. Seconds are free. Free coffee is provided; pop and beer are available for a fee. Community Computer Alliance and the Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church, first computer recycling event, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 22, at the Scioto Ridge Church, 4343 Dublin Road, Hilliard. Volunteers will be on hand to unload items. There is no fee for turning in equipment and all electronic data and personal information from computers is professionally erased. Most electronic devices are accepted, including computers, laptops, iPads, iPods and PDAs, cellphones, gaming systems, home stereos, VCRs and DVD players, wires and cables, LCD and CRT monitors, keyboards, mice, printers, scanners, copiers and ink and toner cartridges. Televisions are not accepted.
The 2014 Hilliard Darby Music Boosters Scrapbooking Crop, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 5, at Hoffman Trails Elementary School, 4301 Hoffman Farms Drive. Cost is $35 and includes a 6- to 8-foot workspace, lunch, door prizes, an assortment of vendors, make and takes and a silent auction. Hilliard Memorial Post 4931 VFW, free haircuts for male and female veterans, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 7, at the post, 2436 Walcutt Road. Ohio Independent Cosmetologists and Barbers Association and Ohio John Amico Stylists will provide the haircuts. The post will provide food, coffee and soft drinks. The Salvation Army Student Fellowship Asbury University Brass Band and Vocal Ensembles, God and Country Concert, 7 p.m. April 12, at the Church at Mill Run, 3500 Mill Run Drive, Hilliard. The performance will feature special guest Mark Ridenour, assistant principal trumpet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. The Brass Band of Columbus will round out the evening. The concert is free. Columbus 2014 Great Amazing Race, an annual family-oriented foot race based on the reality series, The Amazing Race, 2 to 5 p.m. May 10, at Highbanks Metropark in Lewis Center. Teams of two people, adults and children in grades K-12, race around a mile-long course with up to eight stations. Clues provided at each station direct teams to perform tasks or complete an obstacle course that focuses on teamwork in order to advance. Contestants should be prepared to get wet and dirty while completing the tasks. Adult teams also are welcome. Medals will be awarded in various categories, and the 25 best teams will qualify for the championship race and a chance to win $2,000. Walk-ups on the day of the race will be accepted, but advance registration is encouraged as the race is limited to 120 teams. Registration is $40 per two-member team at GreatAmazingRace.com.

Asian American Community Services, annual Asian Health Fair, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26, at Bethel International United Methodist Church, 1220 Bethel Road. The event, designed to help the disadvantaged Asian population in central Ohio, will feature screenings for cholesterol, vision, hearing, blood pressure and asthma, among others. Informational booths on subjects such as Medicare, dental hygiene and driving safety will be set up.
