Trustees approve $21,000 to repair fire truck's engine

During a 10-minute meeting March 18, the Norwich Township trustees approved spending $21,000 to repair the motor of a fire truck at Station 82.

"It's a costly repair," fire Chief Jeff Warren said.

The engine in the 2007 model was out of warranty, Warren said, but it was best to purchase a two-year, 100,000-mile warranty on the fire truck's engine, even though the vehicle likely will be retired from full-time service within two years.

In other action, the trustees acted to formally establish Warren's annual salary at $110,475. Warren began serving as chief March 10 after he was promoted from assistant chief to succeed Robert Kaufman, who retired.

Trustee Chuck Buck, fiscal officer Jamie Miles and township administrator Kate Cavanaugh were absent from the meeting.
