Several streets in Old Hilliard will be closed from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 12, for the Color Me Rad 5K race at the Franklin County Fairgrounds.
Street closures will include Columbia Street from the fairgrounds to Norwich Street; Norwich Street between Columbia and Main streets; Main Street between North and Madison streets; and Center Street between Main and Wayne streets.
The event begins at 9 a.m. and runners are expected to clear the course by 11:30 a.m.
About 3,300 people are expected to participate, said Christy Clark, executive director of Destination Hilliard.
The event helps fill Hilliard hotels and benefits other area businesses, Clark said.
About 3,000 people participated in the event in October 2013, the first time Hilliard hosted the charity 5K run that partly benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Central Ohio.
At each one-kilometer mark of the race are "color stations" where participants are doused with colored corn starch or water-soluble spray paint.
Color Me Rad was founded in 2012 in Utah and about 100 races were held last year in the United States and several Asian countries.
Events benefit a variety of charities and nonprofit organizations, said James Stewart, race director of the Columbus event.
Runners still may register for $50 at Sports Authority, 6285 Sawmill Road in Dublin, or at the Franklin County Fairgrounds, 4100 Columbia St. in Hilliard.
