Hilliard will observe Earth Day with a variety of activities from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 26, at Roger A. Reynolds Municipal Park.
Activities will be staged at the Hilliard Community Center, 3810 Veterans Memorial Drive.
Several organizations will participate in the event, said Kim Movshin, a member of the Hilliard Environmental Sustainability Commission.
The EcoCAR team from the Ohio State University is expected to attend to explain and exhibit the latest electric car. Solar panels and wind turbines will operate the children's games and charge the electric car.
The Buckeye Mobile Tour will provide inflatable tents and games for children.
Visitors also can learn about composting from the Alton Darby Elementary School composting club, Movshin said.
Seed planting and watercolor painting stations will be at the event, and the best entries from a commission-sponsored contest asking Hilliard students to create a poster promoting recycling will be announced and displayed.
The Hilliard Division of Police, CSX Railroad, Honest Tea and the Moo Moo Express Car Wash also will provide educational and promotional materials, Movshin said.
At 11 a.m., Mayor Don Schonhardt is scheduled to dedicate a new bicycle rack.
Cub Scouts from Pack 148 of Boy Scouts of America also are scheduled to clean up inside the park and mulch a children's playground area during the Earth Day event.
