Children with an interest in theater and drama will take center stage during the Hilliard Arts Council's drama camp July 28 to Aug. 1 at the Hilliard Community Center, 3800 Veterans Memorial Drive.
The camp, marking its ninth season, will be open to all children who are entering grades 1-6.
"The camp (introduces) kids to all aspects of theater," said Robin Brenneman, camp director and a retired Hilliard schools teacher.
The activities are age appropriate, Brenneman said, and involve children in writing original adaptations of a familiar fairy tale and then learning the script and performing it.
Other students will select an original play and perform it, she said.
Children also will simulate auditions and learn costume and wardrobe design, makeup, stage construction and lighting.
The daily camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Registration is $160 and can be completed online at localevelevents.com or at the community center.
