The Hilliard Davidson High School theater department will give a final stateside performance of Midsummer/Jersey at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at the school's performing arts center, 5100 Davidson Road.
Tickets are $5 each, with additional donations accepted.
This will be the final performance of the Shakespeare-based farce in advance of a student trip to Scotland from Tuesday, July 29, through Aug. 11, where the play will be presented at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, director Trace Crawford said.
Davidson's students will perform as part of the American High School Theatre Festival at the Church Hill Theatre in the Morningside neighborhood of Edinburgh.
The festival will have close to 3,000 different groups from around the world descending on Edinburgh during August, Crawford said.
Midsummer/Jersey is the creation of playwright Ken Ludwig. It is based on William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, but with a modern-day New Jersey setting and characters inspired by the reality TV show, Jersey Shore.
Students in Davidson's company of 15 are: Russell Bidish, Tanner Bidish, Stephen Brickley, Camille Capers, Michael Capretta, James Conlee, Caleb Crawford, Laura Falb, Sarina Hyland, Danny Kuder, Lucy McTurner, Emily Prior, Alanna Schultz, Nick Slaughter and Carrie Varney.
