Hilliard: Teen facing charges for brass knuckles, hash

Charges are pending against a 14-year-old boy related to possession of a weapon and drugs after police found him with brass knuckles and a substance believed to be hashish.

Hilliard police responded to a report of suspicious activity at 7 p.m. July 18 at Edler Street and Edler Court and observed what was believed to be a hand-to-hand drug transaction.

The 14-year-old boy was believed to be selling hashish to a 27-year-old man, police said.

The substance is being sent to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for testing and charges of possession of narcotics, as well as a weapons charge for the brass knuckles, are pending, according to Hilliard Sgt. Curtis Baker.

The boy is expected to be charged through juvenile court.

In other recent incident reports from the Hilliard Division of Police:

* Police arrested a 37-year-old man for possession of heroin at 12:35 a.m. July 16 at Cemetery Road and Interstate 270.

* A 41-year-old man was arrested for possession of heroin at 9:35 p.m. July 15 in the 4100 block of Trueman Boulevard. A 30-year-old man, wanted on a felony warrant, also was arrested at the scene for obstructing official business.

* Police arrested a 22-year-old man for possession of drug paraphernalia at 2:45 a.m. July 15 at Main Street and Scioto Darby Road.

* A woman reported a known person assaulted her at 9:30 p.m. July 14 in the 5200 block of Morning Drive.

* A bicycle was reported stolen at 7 a.m. July 14 from an open garage at a residence in the 4900 block of Vicksburg Lane.

* A lawn mower was reported stolen at 4 p.m. July 13 in the 3500 block of Paxton Drive.

* A cellphone was reported stolen at 7 p.m. July 16 from the 5400 block of Scioto Darby Road.

* A cellphone was reported stolen at 8:45 p.m. July 14 in the 4100 block of Trueman Boulevard.

* Police arrested two men, both 37, for theft after they attempted to return stolen merchandise at 4:35 p.m. July 16 at a store in the 4100 block of Trueman Boulevard.

* A purse was reported stolen at 8 p.m. July 13 from a residence in the 4700 block of Shire Ridge Road East.

* A laptop computer and a cellphone were reported stolen at 8 p.m. July 17 from a vehicle in the 5400 block of Constitution Boulevard.

* A purse was reported stolen at 7:10 p.m. July 15 from a vehicle in the 3800 block of Veterans Memorial Drive.

* Clothes were reported stolen at 7:30 p.m. July 17 from a vehicle in the 6300 block of Scioto Darby Road.

* A purse was reported stolen at 6:45 p.m. July 16 from an unlocked vehicle in the 3800 block of Veterans Memorial Drive.

* A wallet and phone charger were reported stolen at 12:15 a.m. July 14 from a vehicle in the 3300 block of Shoal Creek Lane.
