Brenneman's 'celebration of life' slated Sept. 7 at Davidson

A "celebration of life" will be held for Ken Brenneman at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at Davidson High School, 5100 Davidson Road.

Brenneman died at his Hilliard home Sept. 1 on his 72nd birthday.

He had cancer and was receiving hospice care.

Brenneman was the executive director of the Hilliard Arts Council and was a retired Hilliard educator.

He was the choir director at Hilliard High School for 24 years.

Brenneman and his wife, Robin, also a retired Hilliard educator, together directed musicals and stage performances of the Hilliard Arts Council, a community theater troupe composed of many Hilliard High School alumni.

About 100 of Brenneman's former students gathered at his residence July 24 and 26 to sing The Lord Bless You and Keep You, a composition that every student learned from Brenneman when he directed symphonic and senior choirs at the high school from 1970 to 1994.

A reception will follow the 3 p.m. ceremony Sept. 7 at Davidson.
