The Hilliard Davidson High School gymnastics team will be represented by junior Mackenzie Brown and sophomore Erin Finneran in the individual state meet Saturday, March 2, at Hilliard Bradley.
Both are first-time state qualifiers.
The top three teams and top nine finishers in each event and the all-around in the district meet Feb. 23 at Worthington Kilbourne qualified for state. Kilbourne (140.625), Dublin Coffman (138.925) and Thomas Worthington (136.125) advanced to the team state meet Friday, March 1, at Bradley.
Brown and Finneran both qualified for state in the all-around and on vault. Brown also qualified on the uneven bars and balance beam and Finneran also advanced on the floor exercise.
Brown placed fourth (35.6) in the all-around and Finneran was seventh (35.225). Finneran won vault (9.275) and placed fourth on floor (9.025), and Brown tied for fifth on vault (9.175), placed seventh on beam (8.975) and finished eighth on bars (8.675).
The Wildcats finished eighth (132.525) as 24 teams scored.
Neither Bradley nor Hilliard Darby had any state qualifiers.
Senior Kayla Malik led Bradley, finishing 13th in the all-around (34.65), tying for 11th on floor (8.8) and placing 12th on bars (8.6). The highest finisher for Darby was junior Nicole Norris, who finished 14th on beam (8.775).
Bradley finished ninth (131.35) and Darby was 12th (127.5).
