Wildcats fall to Eagles after ousting Panthers

The Hilliard Davidson High School softball team lost to eighth-seeded Watterson 6-0 in the second round of the Division I district tournament May 16 to finish 14-15.

The 18th-seeded Wildcats were held without a hit by Eagles pitcher Kayla Cook.

Watterson, which played seventh-seeded Worthington Kilbourne in a district semifinal May 21, scored three runs in the first inning and three in the third off pitcher Taylor Moore, who allowed nine hits. The Wildcats made two errors.

Davidson defeated 32nd-seeded Darby 4-2 in the first round May 14 at home, as first baseman Charlee Clark hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning.

Darby pitcher Savannah Pizzurro allowed just three hits against the Wildcats. The Panthers, who finished 6-16, had eight hits off Moore but were held scoreless until scoring both of their runs in the seventh.

Davidson and Darby also faced each other during the regular season, with the Wildcats winning 6-0 on April 6 behind a one-hitter by pitcher Hannah DePriest.

Jaguars drop opener in district tournament

Bradley lost to 12th-seeded Olentangy 9-2 in the first round of the Division I district tournament May 14 to finish 7-17.

Olentangy, which lost to ninth-seeded Pickerington Central in the second round May 16, had 11 hits and the Jaguars made three errors behind pitchers Alyssa Bobbitt and Lindsey Love, who entered the contest during the Braves' four-run sixth inning. Seeded 30th of 42 teams in the district, Bradley scored both of its runs in the sixth inning.
