A year after placing eighth at the Division I district tournament, the Hilliard Bradley girls golf team improved to seventh as it shot 387 on Oct. 8 at the Links at Groveport.
Dublin Coffman shot a 300 to win their second consecutive district title as two-time defending state champion Dublin Jerome (308) earned the other state-qualifying berth.
Advancing as individuals to state Friday, Oct. 18, and Saturday, Oct. 19, at Ohio State's Gray Course were Watterson junior Erin Harper, who carded a 72, and Gahanna junior Emily Hughes, who shot 78.
Senior Alyssa Parkin led the Jaguars with a 92, followed by juniors Zoe Banaag (93) and Caitlin Silva (94), senior Brooke Boring (108) and junior Ashley Bisciotti (109).
The Jaguars tied Westerville Central for fourth (18-14) in the OCC-Capital behind champion Coffman (32-0).
"It's an accomplishment to be considered one of the nine or 10 top teams in the Central District with the talent that's out there," coach Doug Grieble said. "We'll have three that are returning (after competing at district) and a couple other juniors coming back."
Davidson's season ended with a fifth-place finish (388) in the Oakhaven sectional Oct. 1 behind champion Jerome (299). Katie Lease, who led the Wildcats with a 92 at sectional and was a two-time district qualifier, was joined in the senior class by Megan Ries.
Davidson finished fifth (15-13) in the OCC-Ohio behind champion Pickerington North (28-0). Eligible to return are junior Sydney Weadock and sophomores Josie Brown and Annie Stimmel.
Darby went 1-27 in the OCC-Ohio and was 10th (427) in the sectional at Mentel Memorial behind champion Coffman (302). Spencer Martin, who shot a 110 at sectional, was the only senior. Eligible to return are sophomores Anna Burkhart and Lydia McDaniels and freshman Hailey Scott.
