Bradley boys look to keep OCC lead

The Hilliard Bradley High School boys bowling team entered the week atop the OCC-Capital Division and tied for second in the Central Ohio High School Bowling Conference-North Division.

Before competing against Olentangy on Jan. 21 in a match that counted in both leagues' standings, the Jaguars were 7-2 overall and in the 14-team COHSBC-North and 3-1 in the six-team OCC-Capital. They were one win ahead of Olentangy Liberty and Olentangy Orange in the OCC-Capital and were tied with Westerville Central in the COHSBC-North behind Westerville South (7-1).

Bradley lost to South 2,469-1,988 on Jan. 14.

Through eight matches, Brandon Knadler had a team-leading 202.3 game average, followed by Brandon Richards (189.2) and Dustin Chandler (159.6). Knadler rolled a 603 series Jan. 11 in the Central District Preview at HP Lanes, with games of 219, 207 and 177.

Led by Summer Ryan, the girls team is in contention for its third consecutive OCC-Capital championship. Entering the week, the Panthers were 3-1 in the six-team OCC-Capital, tied with Liberty for second behind Olentangy (2-0), and were 4-3 overall and in the 12-team COHSBC-North.

Through seven matches, Ryan had a team-high 137.5 average, followed by Margaret Birnbrich (123.7), Samantha Willman (123.6) and Rebecca Hunter (119.4).

Clute, Betteridge leading Panthers

Justin Clute has been leading the Darby boys team, which was 4-3 overall and in the COHSBC-North and 1-2 in the OCC-Capital before competing against Big Walnut on Jan. 22.

Through seven matches, Clute had a 175.8 average and had recorded the team's top series of the season, a 389 in a 2,470-1,800 loss to Westerville South on Dec. 14. Andy Rice was second on the team in average (157.9).

The girls team entered the week 1-5 overall and in the COHSBC-North and 0-3 in the OCC-Capital.

Karoline Betteridge had a team-best average of 127.8 through seven matches, followed by Emily Elias (102.3).

Wildcats boys team entered week on roll

The Davidson boys team entered the week on a four-match winning streak.

The Wildcats were 5-3 overall and in the COHSBC-North before a Jan. 21 contest against Westerville South, and they were 1-2 in the OCC-Capital before competing against Liberty on Jan. 22.

Led by Jake Schier, Davidson had a season-high team score in a 2,276-1,968 win over Gahanna on Jan. 15. Schier had a 435 series and Zach Miculka rolled a 434 series.

Through eight matches, Schier had a team-high 180.9 game average, followed by Miculka (170.2) and Zack Starner (166.8).

The girls team entered the week 1-5 overall and in the COHSBC-North and 0-3 in the OCC-Capital.

Davidson's win came against Worthington Kilbourne, 1,518-1,173 on Jan. 9.

Carrie Varney had a team-high 321 series against the Wolves, representing the Wildcats' highest series score through six matches.

She had a team-high 133.7 game average through six matches, followed by Paige Varney (129.6) and Morgan Reasinger (127.8).
