League hopes dim for Bradley

By

The Hilliard Bradley High School wrestling team's bid for its second OCC championship took a major hit with a 33-28 loss to Westerville North on Jan. 30.

The Jaguars fell to 5-1 in the OCC-Cardinal Division and are tied with Darby for second behind North, which improved to 6-0 and can clinch its first league title since 1991 when it plays host to Dublin Scioto on Thursday, Feb. 6.

Given that Scioto is 1-5 in the OCC-Cardinal, Bradley and Darby likely will be vying for sole possession of second place when they face each other Feb. 6 at Memorial Middle School.

Bradley won the OCC-Capital championship in 2012 and was OCC-Cardinal runner-up to Darby last season.

The Jaguars trailed North 9-0 but rallied to take a 16-15 lead, only to watch the Warriors score 18 consecutive points to open a 33-16 advantage.

Winning by pin for Bradley were C.J. Campbell at 113 pounds (3 minutes, 41 seconds), Patrick Yeo at 182 (4:32) and Ryan Kraynak at 195 (1:12).
