Four members of last season’s Division I, Region 2 finalist Hilliard Davidson High School football team will play at the collegiate level.
Alex Backenstoe, Phillipie Motley, D.D. Clark and Nick Iske made their college commitments official last week.
Backenstoe, a defensive end and tight end for the Wildcats, will play fullback for Air Force. He was named district and OCC-Central Division Defensive Player of the Year and shared state Defensive Player of the Year honors with Cincinnati Colerain’s Tegray Scales last fall after totaling 14 sacks and 23 tackles for loss.
Motley, a running back, wide receiver and defensive back for Davidson, will play defensive back for Pittsburgh. Last season, he rushed for 781 yards and nine touchdowns and was first-team all-league and honorable mention all-district.
Clark, a running back, will play at Division II Walsh. Last season, he rushed for 2,003 yards and 20 touchdowns and was first-team all-state, all-district and all-league.
Iske, a quarterback, will play at Division III Capital. He rushed for 349 yards and six touchdowns last fall and was special mention all-league.
Davidson finished 13-1 overall, losing to Cincinnati Moeller 13-11 in the Region 2 final. The Wildcats went 7-0 in the OCC-Central to win their fourth consecutive league title.
