Jaguars' Knadler wins sectional title


Brandon Knadler of the Hilliard Bradley High School boys bowling team rolled a 725 three-game series to win the individual championship in the Division I sectional tournament Feb. 21 at Eastland Lanes.

The junior led the Jaguars to a second-place finish and a berth in the district tournament Saturday, March 1, at Eastland Lanes.

Knadler finished 92 pins ahead of the runner-up, Walnut Ridge's Michael Mills (633), and Kevin Pirt placed eighth (574) for Bradley, which scored a 3,734 to finish behind Walnut Ridge (3,805) as 40 teams scored.

The top 20 teams and top 20 individuals not on a qualifying team in both the boys and girls sectionals advanced to district.

Brady Hall rolled a 360 series to finish 140th for the Jaguars, followed by teammates Brandon Richards (349, 142nd) and Dustin Chandler (324, 155th).

Lauren Kennedy led the girls team, finishing 71st with a 383 to earn an individual district berth, as the Jaguars finished 26th (2,351) behind champion Briggs (3,345) as 37 teams scored. The sophomore was the only member of the team to compete in three games.

Competing in two games for the Jaguars were Abbie Lucas (248, 139th), Margaret Birnbrich (219, 162nd), Sami Willman (211, 167th), Summer Ryan (208, 171st) and Becca Hunter (207, 173rd).

The top four teams and top four individuals not on a qualifying team at district advance to the state March 8 at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.

Davidson boys, girls advance to district

Chase Rodemann rolled a 559 to finish 13th and Robbie Gilliland finished 15th (556) at sectional to lead the Davidson boys team to a 13th-place finish (3,461).

Zack Starner (529, 31st) was next for the Wildcats, followed by Jake Schier (512, 46th) and Zach Miculka (148, 217th).

The girls team finished 18th (2,577) at sectional. Carrie Varney (441, 38th) led the Wildcats, followed by Paige Varney (438, 41st), Morgan Reasinger (381, 73rd), Riley Clevenger (350, 94th) and Cassidy Ball (193, 178th).

Darby’s Perry, Rice earn trips to district

Darby will be represented at district by Lauren Perry of the girls team and Andy Rice of the boys team, both of whom earned individual district berths.

Perry finished 58th (397) for the girls squad, which did not record a team score at sectional. Karoline Betteridge (353, 91st) was next for the Panthers, followed by Karenna Maaser (348, 97th) and Amanda Logan (245, 142nd).

The boys team finished 26th (3,136).

Rice finished 66th (493) at sectional. Sebastian Downs (461, 95th) was next for Darby, followed by Kyle Wintering (451, 101st), Ethan Mullet (448, 104th) and Justin Clute (303, 164th).
