Ally Duckworth should feel right at home when she competes in the individual state gymnastics meet Saturday, March 1, at Hilliard Bradley High School.
The Bradley junior, who will be making her second state appearance, was the only Hilliard gymnast to qualify for state. She advanced from the district meet Feb. 22 at Worthington Kilbourne on bars, balance beam and the all-around.
Duckworth placed on bars (8.825), tied for sixth on beam (9.05) and placed sixth in the all-around (35.45) at district, as the top eight finishers in each event and the all-around qualified for state. She placed 14th on floor exercise (8.95) and 26th on vault (8.625). Duckworth made her first state appearance as a freshman in 2012, finishing 32nd on beam (8.375).
Bradley finished eighth (131.075) at district behind champion Dublin Coffman (143.85) as 26 teams scored. Coffman, Kilbourne (141.025) and Upper Arlington (137.7) advanced to the team state meet Friday, Feb. 28, at Bradley.
Also competing in all four events were Hannah Richards (tied for 32nd, 33.05), Grace Jones (50th, 31.05) and Laney Colaiacovo (64th, 30.3).
Richards had her top score and placement on beam (tied for 23rd, 8.55). Jones had her best score and placement on floor (40th, 8.6) and Colaiacovo had her best score on floor (tied for 83rd, 7.9) and her best placement on beam (57th, 7.8).
There were 103 competitors in the all-around, 150 on vault, 148 on bars and floor and 147 on beam. Also competing were Taylor Hassel and Madison McDonnell, Emily Tamburro and Emily Wawrzyniak.
Panthers place 12th in district tourney
Darby finished 12th (127.825) at district.
Competing in the all-around for the Panthers were Nicole Norris (41st, 32.25), Audrey Craddick (42nd, 32.2), Janel Kuebler (43rd, 32.15) and Marissa Huffman (70th, 29.65).
All four turned in their top scores on floor. Norris finished 39th with an 8.625, followed by Craddick (tied for 46th, 8.575), Kuebler (tied for 69th, 8.2) and Huffman (tied for 94th, 7.7).
Norris had the team's highest finish on floor (39th, 8.625) and vault (tied for 64th, 8.15), Kuebler had the highest finish on bars (tied for 25th, 8.0) and Craddick had the highest finish on beam (47th, 8.075).
Also competing were Elizabeth Ferry, Priya Mehra and Morgan Nail.
Wildcats finish 18th in district tourney
Davidson finished 18th (119.45) at district.
Competing in the all-around for the Wildcats were Sonya Zaguzina (tied for 53rd, 31.35), Caitlin Johnson (55th, 31.275), Dianna Petty (62nd, 30.425) and Lydia Gordon (96th, 25.75).
Petty had the team's highest finish on beam (48th, 8.05) and vault (tied for 59th, 8.175), Johnson had the highest finish on floor (29th, 8.775) and Zaguzina had the highest finish on bars (tied for 53rd, 7.25).
Also competing was Kaitlyn Phillips.
