The Hilliard Bradley High School softball team is hoping the momentum that it has built in the second half of the regular season carries over to the postseason.
The Jaguars lost five of their first nine games, but defeated Westerville North 17-7 in six innings in an OCC-Cardinal Division contest May 5 for their eighth win in 10 games.
Lindsey Love came on in relief in the first inning when the Warriors scored six runs and allowed only one run the rest of the way to earn the victory.
Bradley was 12-7 overall and 7-3 in the OCC-Cardinal before playing Westerville South on May 6 and Dublin Scioto on May 7.
The Jaguars, who will play host to Lakewood and Licking Heights in the Bradley Extravaganza on Saturday, May 10, are seeded 14th of 45 teams in the Division I district tournament and have a first-round bye.
They will play host to 17th-seeded DeSales or 44th-seeded Walnut Ridge in the second round May 15. The winner will play top-seeded Marysville, 36th-seeded Newark or 43rd-seeded Westland in a district semifinal May 20 at Pickerington North.
Wildcats seeded 15th in district tourney
Davidson is seeded 15th in the Division I district tournament and has a first-round bye.
The Wildcats will play host to 20th-seeded Groveport or 31st-seeded Franklin Heights in the second round May 15. The winner will play fifth-seeded Teays Valley or 45th-seeded Columbus West in a district semifinal May 20 at Pickerington Central.
Davidson was 12-10 overall and 5-6 in the OCC-Central before playing Thomas Worthington on May 7.
The Wildcats entered the contest having lost five of their previous eight games, including a 3-1 loss to Olentangy Liberty in a league game May 5.
Panthers top Scioto, snap losing streak
Darby ended a four-game losing streak by beating Scioto 8-0 in an OCC-Cardinal game May 5.
Savannah Pizzurro and Samy Torres combined to pitch a two-hitter, as the Panthers posted their first shutout of the season.
Darby was 5-14 overall and 4-6 in the OCC-Cardinal before playing Dublin Jerome on May 6 and Westerville Central on May 7.
The Panthers are seeded 35th in the Division I district tournament and will play at 34th-seeded Logan in the first round Tuesday, May 13. The winner plays at seventh-seeded Westerville Central in the second round May 15, with the second-round winner playing 13th-seeded New Albany, 19th-seeded Canal Winchester or 29th-seeded Westerville South in a district semifinal May 20 at Pickerington Central.
Darby has not played Logan this season but lost to Westerville Central 11-1 in five innings on April 21.
