Annie Stimmel of the Hilliard Davidson High School girls golf team has emerged as one of the top players in the OCC-Ohio Division.

After averaging 89 and making second-team all-league a year ago, the junior is fourth in the league through three rounds with a stroke total of 253, behind Gahanna's Emily Hughes (229), Pickerington North's Lavonca Davis (247) and Thomas Worthington's Sydney Kelly (250).

In the third round Aug. 26 at The Links at Groveport, Stimmel tied Pickerington North's Krista Moore for second with an 80 behind Hughes (78).

"(We've) had a successful start," coach Robert Winland said.

"The team has been looking for leadership (and) this void has been filled with the play of many members, including Annie Stimmel. ... Solid play has also been turned in by senior captain Sydney Weadock and junior Katherine Zacheis."

The Wildcats shot 384 in the third round to place fifth behind Pickerington North (344), Canal Winchester (365), Upper Arlington (375) and Gahanna (376) and ahead of Lancaster (471).
