Two hundred thirty-four students were awarded certificates of completion at the 35th annual C-TEC Honors Program on Friday, May 23, at the Career and Technology Education Centers of Licking County.

Two hundred thirty-four students were awarded certificates of completion at the 35th annual C-TEC Honors Program on Friday, May 23, at the Career and Technology Education Centers of Licking County.

An audience of more than 1,400 including parents, friends, home school educators and numerous representatives of business and industry, looked on as more than 100 special awards were presented during the ceremony.

The outstanding student selected from the C-TEC Class of 2008 was Lenzie Jo McCoy, who completed the Dental Assisting Program.

Other students who were honored with an "Award of Merit" included: Matthew Markus Hare, of Northridge, from the Architectural & Engineering Design program; Kevin Christopher Bassett, of Johnstown, from the Computer Machining Technology program; and Sarah Marie Rupp, of Johnstown, in the Medical Academy Program.

Outstanding students were chosen for each technical program. Winners included Johnstown's Sierra May Elizabeth in the Hospitality & Tourism program.

Scholarships and special awards included: the High Schools That Work Award of Educational Achievement went to Sharree Nichole Barclay, of Northridge; Heather Anne Marie Biggers, of Northridge, and Megan Elizabeth Powell, of Northridge; and Brittany Danielle Morris, of Johnstown, received the Watts Culinary Arts Award.

The C-TEC Senior Class of 2008 earned scholarships totaling more than $150,000.
