The annual Little Miss Firecracker Pageant will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 3, at the Johnstown Performing Arts Center.

The event is sponsored by American Legion Post 254 and the Fourth of July Committee. This year's theme is "Summer Weekends in the Country," said Colleen Vicroy, pageant coordinator.

Contestants in this year's pageant are twins Payton and Madison Ausbrooks, age 4, daughters of Alica Etter; Bailey Stranges, 4, daughter of Joshua and Holly Stranges; Daylyn Merkle, 6, daughter of Bryan and Kathy Merkle; Breanna McCombs, 6, daughter of Shawn and Stephanie McCombs; and Elise McClelland, 6, daughter of Rick and Shelley McClelland.

The contestants will be judged on talent, modeling and interview, Vicroy said.

There is no cost to attend the pageant, but those who do are asked to bring at least one food item to be donated to the Johnstown-Northridge Food Pantry.

The Johnstown Youth Athletic Association is seeking high school students in need of volunteer service hours to work in the concession stand during the July 4 tournament.

There are shifts available July 4, 5 and 6, beginning at 9 a.m. There are also shifts available in the evening on July 7, 8 and 9 beginning at 5:30 p.m.

In celebration of the Hartford Fair's 150th fair, organizers are seeking addresses for Hartford Fair Kings and Queens.

Among those being sought are unknown fair queens for 1959, 1960, 1961 and 1967; and unknown fair kings for 1976 and 1970.

Also sought are 1969 Hartford Fair Queen Jane Sherrod; 1977 Hartford Fair King Chris Toskin; 1981 Hartford Fair Queen Rilla Brady; 1986 Hartford Fair Queen Lisa Holland; 1988 Hartford Fair King Chris Choate; 1988 Hartford Fair Queen Stephanie Hughes; and 1995 Hartford Fair Queen Heidi Hamilton.

Relay for Life of Johnstown will meet Thursday, July 10, at the Johnstown High School library.

The committee meeting begins at 6 p.m. and team meetings start at 7 p.m. This will be the last meeting before the event, which is scheduled for July 18-19. Those who are not on a relay team and would like to be involved are encouraged to attend the meeting.

Volunteers are needed to help with the Survivor Dinner, registration, set-up and clean-up, said Sally Winn-Bauer, media chairperson.

The Johnstown Historical Society opens its museum rooms to the public the first Sunday of each month from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Town Hall. To arrange other times, call 967-4591 for an appointment.

Groups are encouraged to schedule meetings in the facility.

The Johnstown Recreation Center is offering YOGA classes on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $5 per class.

Starting on July 1, dance classes for kids will be held on Tuesdays.

Children ages 4-5 will have dance class from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.; ages 6-8 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; and 11-12 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.

There is a $2 charge per child per class. Dance classes will run until July 29.
