The Northridge Local Schools Board of Education is looking for a new board member.

The Northridge Local Schools Board of Education is looking for a new board member.

The four remaining members voted at their Aug. 18 meeting to approve the resignation of board member Bob Brooks.

According to a letter dated Aug. 17, Brooks resigned his position because "the demands of my job have changed dramatically since the beginning of my current term on the board and I am unable to dedicate the time to the district that the position requires."

Brooks served on the board of education for six years.

"He really worked hard in those years on the board," board president Larry Porter told The Independent. "The past year has been filled with difficult decisions, and Bob was diligent."

The board must fill the vacancy some time between Aug. 27 and Sept. 16. Members are asking for district residents interested in serving to send a resume and letter of interest to the district office, addressed to Board President Larry Porter, 6097 Johnstown Utica Road, Johnstown 43031.

Letters must be received by Tuesday, Sept. 2. The board will conduct interviews with selected candidates, in executive session, on Sept. 4.
