Several members of the Johnstown-Monroe High School football team earned postseason honors.

In the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association awards for Region 11, coach Mike Carter was the Division V/VI Co-Coach of the Year and Will Carter (FB/LB_ was the Division V/VI Co-Player of the Year. Coach Carter was also named a coaching representative for the North-South all-star football game Will Carter, Jarred Liggett (OL/DL), Josh McClellan (punter) and Kurt Sammons (LB/TE) are nominated for the game.

First-teamers in District 11 for Johnstown included David Baur (T), Zach Beacom (C), Will Carter, Brad Couts (RB), Evan Hupp (DT), Liggett, McClellan, Jay Orders (QB), Stephen Orr (LB), Colton Rosshirt (DB), Sammons. On the second team were Cody Bracken (DB), Mitchell Hendren (WR/RB), Levi Jacob (LB) and Austin Montgomery (G). Earning honorable mention were Patrick Benton (PK), Bret Bohning (WR), Riley Cannon (DE), Mike D'Andrea (T), Dan Decenzo (WR/LB), Andy Denney (LB), Jake Hollis (WR), Jacob Kennedy (DT), Scott Robinson (RB/LB) and Ben Schmidt (G).

Coach Carter was Coach of the Year in the MBC and Sammons was the co-Defensive Player of the Year.

Making the first team in the MBC were Beacom, Will Carter, Liggett, McCellan, Orders, Orr and Sammons. Those on the second team were Couts and Rosshirt and Jacob was given honorable mention.

In the Central District, Beacom, Couts, Liggett and McClellan were on the first team in Division V with Will Carter and Rosshirt as second-teamers. Orr and Orders were given special mention and Austin Montgomery and Sammons received honorable mention.

The Central District All-Star wrestling meet will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Gahanna. Matches will feature 22 Division II wrestlers against 22 Division I wrestlers as selected by the coaches according to last year's results and nominations from coaches. The Central District has 14 returning state-placers. Schools that will be represented include Central Crossing, Teays Valley, Marysville, Mount Vernon, Hilliard Davidson, Pickerington North, West Jefferson, Marion Pleasant, Big Walnut, Licking Heights and Buckeye Valley.

During the meet awards will be presented honoring last year's coaches and wrestlers of the year, scholar-athlete of the year, official of the year, sportsmanship award as well as three outstanding retiring coaches.

The Ohio Chargers U-14 baseball team is looking for players for next year. The Chargers play a regional schedule and will participate in the tournaments throughout the Midwest. Eligible players cannot turn 15 before May 1, 2009.
