Anticipating the possibility of inclement weather, the Northridge Board of Education has tentatively scheduled a "rain date" of 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, with its Finance Committee if the planned meeting at the same time on Wednesday, Jan. 28, cannot be held.

Treasurer Felicia Drummey said Monday night that the district can't wait another week to plan its objectives in anticipation of placing a tax issue on the May 5 ballot.

Wednesday's meeting had been scheduled after the Finance Committee postponed its Jan. 14 meeting due to inclement weather.

"As a board, you need to account for your objectives and the consequences of budget cuts," Drummey said. "We have it ironed out what to present. We have every intention of meeting Wednesday unless the weather is exceptionally bad."

In anticipation of placing a levy on the May ballot, special meetings have been scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 9, and Thursday, Feb. 12, at the high school media center.

A "Community Crisis" meeting for Northridge has also been scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the high school auditorium.

Northridge Superintendent John Shepard said the crisis meeting will provide residents of the community with an opportunity to tell the officials what they want for the school district's future.
