Lt. Col. David Bauer recently presented Patrick Yehlik, son of Francis and Eileen Yehlik of Johnstown, with a U.S. Military Academy crest to wear on his Marion Military Institute (MMI) uniform.

The pin is a gift in conjunction with Cadet Yehlik's West Point Association of Graduates one-year scholarship to MMI. He is enrolled in the junior college's Service Academy Prep program.

Johnstown's Matthew Heimerl is one of 22 farmers and agribusiness professionals selected by the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) to participate in the 2009-2010 AgriPOWER program.

Heimerl is involved with his family's farming operation, which consists of hog production, feeder cattle, corn, soybeans and wheat.

AgriPOWER was launched last year by OFBF as an elite training program designed to help participants become leaders, advocates and activists for Ohio agriculture. The year-long program consists of seven weekend institutes that focus on public policy issues confronting agriculture and the food industry.

Topics covered during various institute programs consist of public policy issues facing local communities, the state of Ohio, the nation and the world.
