Members of the Northridge Middle School Power of the Pen team competed in a district writing tournament on Feb. 5 at New Albany Middle School.

Members of the seventh-grade team, which placed first among the 19 teams competing, are Audrey Ashbrook, Aili Barbee, Jamie Comisford, Kaelin Curran, Vinny Deltedesco and Leyna Varney.

Top honors were earned by Aili Barbee, who placed first, and Kaelin Curran, placing fourth.

E.J. Cox received a "Best of Round" award for eighth grade.

All Creatures 4-H Club will hold its kick-off meeting today (Sunday, Feb. 20) at 4 p.m. at the Johnstown Village Council Chambers, 599 S, Main St.

There will be a guest speaker from the Licking County 4-H committee discussing the opportunities 4-H has to offer. Anyone interested in becoming a member or looking for information is welcome to attend the meeting or call Brian Bemiller at 967-5952.

The Licking County Chapter Ohio Horseman's Council's annual Tack Auction will be held on Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Teheran Grotto Hall, 124 Waterworks Road, Newark.

Doors open at 4 p.m. and the auction begins at 5 p.m.

Home cooked food will be available, and there will be a 50-50 raffle and a silent auction.

The Alexandria Park Board will host an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at the Church of Christ, 5381 Worthington Road, Alexandria.

The dinner was previously scheduled at Northridge Primary, but has been moved to a bigger location.

Organizers say the donation-only dinner is to raise funds for new bleachers, new grills and repairs to the shelter houses at Parker Park. The park board is working on plans to upgrade the entire park.

Parker Park can be accessed off Main Street in downtown Alexandria.
