The Heisey Wind Ensemble presents the final concert of its 2012-13 season at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Reese Center at the Ohio State University Newark Campus, 1209 University Drive, Newark.
The 60-member concert band is led by Music Director and Principal Conductor Russel Mikkelson.
For this concert the band will present "Evening at the Pops" with a theme of New York, New York. Selections will include Opening Night on Broadway, New York: 1927, Cole Porter Spectacular, Tribute to Harry James featuring Mikkelson on trumpet and conducted by Jeffrey Shellhammer, Selections from Damn Yankees, Metroplex (Three Postcards from Manhatten) by Robert Sheldon and Broadway Show-Stoppers.
The group will also be performing two selections from Les Miserables with soprano soloist Erin McCloskey on I Dreamed A Dream and tenor soloist Don Rogers on Bring Him Home.
Membership in the ensemble is by audition only and includes musicians from Licking, Franklin, Fairfield, Guernsey, Delaware, Coshocton, Knox and Muskingum counties.
Tickets will be available only at the door at a cost of $15, $10 for seniors age 60 and older and $5 for students.
