Licking County Genealogical Society, May meeting, 6 p.m. May 6, at the Licking County Administration Building, 20 S. Second St. Doors will be locked at 6:15 p.m., and there will be no admittance after that time. Licking County Recorder Bryan Long and his staff will present the program, "Research Land Records" -- Licking County Recorder's Office Road Trip. Attendees are requested to bring a cash donation which will go to the food pantry. Meetings are free and open to the public unless otherwise stated. St. Vincent de Paul Society of the Church of the Ascension in Johnstown, clothing and furniture drive, May 18 and 19, at the church, 555 S. Main St. The clothing and furniture will be forwarded to the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Newark. There will be a truck and personnel in the church's parking lot for drop-offs. Tax receipt forms will be available.

Licking County's 1st Annual United Race, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 15, at the Licking County Family YMCA. The event is patterned after the television show The Amazing Race. Teams will compete in mental and physical challenges, and the fastest teams will be rewarded. Proceeds will benefit United Way of Licking County. Registration is being accepted online at unitedwaylc.org for ages 12 and up. Cost is $20 per individual or $75 for a team of four. Individual participants will be assigned to a team. Heath High School Class of 1993, 20-year reunion, July 26 and 27. Events include a casual gathering July 26, at Papa Boo's in Thornville, a golf outing July 27, at Raccoon International and a reunion dinner July 27, at the Newark Metropolitan Hotel. Cost for golf is $30 per person, cost for the reunion dinner is $25 per person. Reservations are due July 12. Johnstown Community Sportsman's Club, opening ceremony for presentation of the Vietnam Memorial Traveling Wall, noon July 11, at 7357 Sportsman Club Road NW. The traveling wall will then be accessible for viewing around the clock until the final ceremony starting at 3 p.m. July 14. Club staff and other volunteers will be available to help visitors locate names of fallen servicemen and make pencil etchings of their names onto paper. Each day there will be presentations by distinguished speakers and a number of ceremonies involving regional organizations. AARP Foundation Senior Community Service Employment Program assists unemployed Franklin, Delaware and Licking county workers age 55 and over with securing employment. The program offers paid work experience, specialized training, upgrading of skills and job-search assistance. Age, income and residency requirements apply. Classes, workshops

Criterium Liszkay Engineers, free home buyers seminar, 7 p.m. May 7 and 9, for part one, May 14 and 16, for part two, in the East Main Professional Building, 5300 E. Main St., Suite 203. Participants will learn the basics of what a home inspector looks for, helping them eliminate houses with major problems before entering into a contract. Each session will last one and a half hours. Ohio State University Extension-Licking County, Dining with Diabetes classes, noon to 2 p.m. May 16, 21 and 23, at Kendal at Granville, 2158 Columbus Road SW, Granville. Dining with Diabetes is a cooking school and nutrition education program designed for people with diabetes and their family members or caregivers. Health

Childbirth Education Class, for expectant mothers, 6 to 9 p.m. May 14 and 21, in the first-floor conference rooms at Licking Memorial Hospital, 1320 W. Main St. in Newark. The cost is $55 per couple. A childbirth educator will teach the class, focusing on ways to cope with labor, breathing exercises, postpartum care and newborn care. Breastfeeding Mothers Support Group, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. May 14, in the auditorium at Licking Memorial Hospital, 1320 W. Main St., in Newark. The group will be facilitated by an international board certified lactation consultants. To register for this free group, call 740-348-4346.

Prenatal Breastfeeding Basics Class, 6 to 8 p.m. May 15, in the first-floor conference rooms at Licking Memorial Hospital, 1320 W. Main St. in Newark. Participants will learn the basics of breastfeeding, including the skills and techniques necessary for success. A certified lactation consultant will be available for one-on-one questions. Friends and Family Infant and Child CPR class, geared toward expectant parents and grandparents, 6 to 7 p.m. May 24, in the first-floor conference rooms at Licking Memorial Hospital, 1320 W. Main St., Newark. Although this class does not provide official certification, it focuses on basic life support and treatment for children who are choking. Anyone in the community who cares for young children is welcome to register. Cost is $5 per person. To register, call 740-348-4346.
