District sells, gives thousands of trees

Monday May 6, 2013 12:06 PM

The annual seedling tree sale held by the Licking County Soil & Water Conservation District resulted in the purchase of more than 59,000 trees, according to information from the LCSWCD.

In addition to tree sales, 6,100 Norway spruce seedling trees were given to elementary students. Although budget cuts have made the free trees project a challenge, local businesses sponsored the free seedling trees through Soil & Water's "Plant a Future" program.

The Licking County Master Gardeners, Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalists, members of the Soil & Water board and other individuals helped to make the 2013 seedling tree program successful, according to information from the LCSWCD.
