American Legion Post 254 in Johnstown will take part in two Memorial Day observances May 27.
The first is the Hartford Village Memorial Day commemoration, beginning at 9:45 a.m. Monday, May 27, on the Hartford village square.
The event will feature the Northridge marching band, local Scouts raising the flags, flowers to honor fallen veterans, a bagpipe player, the playing of taps, a 21-gun salute by Post 254 and an art show at the library.
The program will conclude at the Hartford Cemetery on Bennington Chapel Road.
The second will be at Green Hill Cemetery, 7621 Johnstown-Alexandria Road.
Post 254 Commander Bruce Tolle will serve as master of ceremonies and open the event with a welcome at 11:30 a.m.
The Rev. Calvin Alexander will give the invocation and benediction, with the Johnstown marching band performing the national anthem and a patriotic song medley.
Post 254 will conduct a wreath placement, the playing of taps and a 21-gun salute.
Speakers will be Mayor Sean Staneart and Alexander.
Post 254 member Urvin Hartsock will be recognized as Legionnaire of the year.
