Johnstown: Man dies day after reported theft of funds, vehicle

Johnstown police recently responded to various theft reports ranging from money from a bank account to gasoline drive-offs and movies.

A New York man allegedly cleaned out the bank account of a resident in the first block of South Williams Street by means of an old power of attorney. A vehicle also was taken, according to a theft report received at 7:28 p.m. Jan. 20. The Williams Street man died the day after the theft, according to reports.

Movies were reported stolen by a girl at 9:12 p.m. Jan. 21 in the first block of South Main Street.

Three juveniles were reported shoplifting at the Duke and Duchess Shoppe, 233 W. Coshocton St., at 4:02 p.m. Jan. 19.

A purse was reported stolen at 11:12 a.m. Jan. 18 in the 200 block of Briarwood Drive.

A drive-off was reported at Circle K, 8 N. Main St., at 3:46 p.m. Jan. 18.

* Someone attempted to enter a residence overnight in the 100 block of Cole Drive, according to a report received at 8:28 a.m. Jan. 18.

* Residents flagged down police about possible squatters at a residence in the 100 block of Parkdale Drive at 3:06 p.m. Jan. 16.

* Juveniles were attempting to enter through the rear of businesses at Post Office Alley, according to a report received at 4:35 p.m. Jan. 16.

* A car was vandalized in the 100 block of Westview Drive, according to a criminal-damaging report received at 8:48 a.m. Jan. 20.

* A woman reported that a North Williams Street man had threatened to burn down her office and then kill himself at 11:24 a.m. Jan. 20. The man denied making the threat. He said he didn't want to hurt himself, and he wouldn't willingly go to Licking Memorial Hospital, according to reports.

* A small, young white dog and large, older black dog were reported running loose in the first block of Westview Drive at 2:25 p.m. Jan. 20.
