Denison University will celebrate its 10th annual bluegrass festival with a valentine for the community.
Three concerts and several workshops will be offered beginning Friday, Feb. 14. Most events are free and open to the public.
The first concert begins at 7 p.m. Feb. 14, in the university's Swasey Chapel, 200 Chapel Drive. The free event will feature the Andy Carlson Band, the Dappled Grays with the Denison Bluegrass Ensemble Alumni Band and the Denison University Suzuki Program Fiddlers. Workshops are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, in Burke Hall, 240 W. Broadway. Clinics will feature the banjo, mandolin, voice, guitar, fiddle and bluegrass bass. A band interview with IIIrd Tyme Out will begin at 2 p.m. and a master class with the Rage will start at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, in the Burke Hall recital room. All events are free and open to the public.
IIIrd Tyme Out and the April Verch Band with Hayes Griffin will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, in Swasey Chapel. This concert also is free and open to the public.
A third and final concert will feature Rhonda Vincent and the Rage at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at the Midland Theatre, 36 N. Park Place, Newark.Robin and Linda Williams also will perform. Tickets, $25 to $65, are available through the Midland Theatre. Call 740-345-5483 or visit midlandtheatre.org.
