Johnstown is set to land 200 jobs after today's (May 23) council approval of tax incentives for Bleckmann USA LLC, a company that offers specialist supply-chain services for the fashion and lifestyle industry.

Johnstown is set to land 200 jobs after today's (May 23) council approval of tax incentives for Bleckmann USA LLC, a company that offers specialist supply-chain services for the fashion and lifestyle industry.

Justin Bickle, director of project management for Columbus2020, represented the Belgium-based company during the special meeting, describing Bleckmann as a company dealing with high-fashion retailers, servicing customers in Europe and some in Asia.

"They do specialty packaging for monthly subscription packages - an e-commerce retailer in health and beauty," he said.

Bickle said Bleckmann has no other presence in the United States except for the new Johnstown location that will be at 188 Commerce Blvd.

In exchange for creating jobs and employment opportunities, council approved a three-year, 25 percent municipal income-tax credit that's applicable for 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Bickle said the 200 jobs come with a total annual payroll of $5.8 million by the end of 2019.

He told ThisWeek hiring is expected to start before the end of June, and he anticipates business to commence before the peak retail season hits at the end of August.

He said the jobs would average $14 per hour and include positions from warehouse workers to supervisors, management and technology for internal systems.

Village Manager/Planner Jim Lenner said it's exciting to bring a 200-(job) opportunity to village residents so they don't have to travel to Columbus to work.

"A council goal is to create an environment to live, work and play in the community," he said. "This is one avenue to establish that."
