Johnstown police responded to a report of fighting at an apartment in the 300 block of Briarwood Drive at 12:22 a.m. Dec. 24.

Police arrived on the scene and began a search of the area but observed no one outside, reports said.

Officers began to hear yelling and screaming from inside an apartment occupied by a male and female. While one officer escorted the female outside and interviewed her, another officer interviewed the man, reports said.

He told police the two were arguing but there had been no violence. The woman said the man had grabbed her by the throat an hour earlier, according to reports. She didn't have any bruising or marks on her throat, reports said. Police convinced the man to call someone to pick him up so he could leave the area.

* Suspicious people were reported on Pratt Street at 12:12 a.m. Dec. 28. An officer spotted two men, in possession of a metal detector, who told the officer they had just got off work, and they weren't doing any harm. They were advised to leave and that they needed permission to use the detector on the property, reports said.

* An employee at a business in the 200 block of West Coshocton Street was suspected of taking money, according to a report received at 11:35 a.m. Dec. 24.
