The Ohio State University Newark board of trustees elected new officers and recommended the appointments of a new student trustee and a new regular member at its May 22 meeting. Approved were Lisa Whittaker, who will serve a three-year term to replace Paddy Kutz, and student Stephanie Volbrecht, who will serve for one year.

Approved were Lisa Whittaker, who will serve a three-year term to replace Paddy Kutz, and student Stephanie Volbrecht, who will serve for one year.

Jerry Besancency and Marlene Eader were reappointed to three-year terms.

Kutz served three consecutive three-year terms on the board, the maximum allowed.

Whittaker is an OSU graduate who earned a law degree at OSU's Moritz College of Law in 2007. Volbrecht, a nontraditional student, is pursuing a psychology degree. She replaces outgoing student trustee Joshua Maccombs.

Newly elected officers are Thomas Hall, chairman; Robin Coffman, vice chairman; and Eschol Curl Jr., secretary/treasurer.
