Pataskala has scheduled a program on foreclosures in conjunction with the Licking County Save Our Homes Task Force and Licking County Chamber of Commerce.

The workshop, designed to advise people in the lending industry on how to help stop foreclosures, is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, at Pataskala City Hall, 629 W. Broad St.

Pataskala Mayor Steve Butcher has been working with the Licking County Save Our Homes Task Force since its inception in 2008. The task force was formed to address the growing number of foreclosures in the county.

Butcher said the workshop would provide an educational forum focusing on the effect of foreclosures in western Licking County and would outline basic programs available to help residents facing foreclosure.

Licking County treasurer Michael Smith will give an update on how uncollected property taxes affect local agencies and schools and will answer questions about changes in his office to increase the tax collections.

A representative from nonprofit group Legal Aid and Pathways 211 call center also will speak.

For more information, call Legal Aid at (740) 345-0850, ext 111, or Butcher at (614) 774-6643.
