Watkins Memorial High School will hold a boys basketball camp from 8:30-11:30 a.m. July 13-15 for players entering grades 3-8. The camp will be conducted by the Watkins Memorial Basketball program and the Watkins Memorial Athletic Association. The Newark Football Parents Club will present the Crimson and White dinner and silent auction on July 24 in the Teheran Grotto Hall at 124 Waterworks Road. The silent auction begins at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets must be purchased by July 9. There will also be a golf outing Aug. 14 at Burning Tree Golf Course. The eighth-annual Circleville Dog Days 5K road race will start at 9 a.m. Aug. 1, beginning and ending at Circleville High School. There will be awards for the top three finishers in all 28 age groups, as well as awards for the top three overall male and female finishers.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association Board of Directions met June 11 and voted on a number of issues. The Board elected Steven Stirn to serve as president and Rocco Nero as vice president for the 2009-10 school year, beginning Aug. 1. The Board voted to extend the contract with Akron Firestone Stadium to be the site for the softball finals, making the terms 10 years, which begins in 2008. The Board approved a one-year extension for Huntington Park to be the site for the state baseball tournament in 2010.
