Registration for the Ohio Ecological Food & Farm Association's annual conference is under way.

"Inspiring Farms, Sustaining Communities" is the theme of the conference, to be held Feb. 19-20 in Granville.

Keynote speakers will be Joan Dye Gussow, a pioneer of the local, organic food movement, and organic farmers Klaas and Mary-Howell Martens. More than 70 workshops, a trade show and a children's conference will be offered, along with locally sourced meals, child care and Saturday evening entertainment.

"The ABCs of CSAs" will offer guidance to farmers interested in community-supported agriculture. This event is set for Friday, Feb. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society recently honored several outstanding volunteers.

Craig Washka of Granville received the Carolyn Konnert Achievement Award, which honors an individual with multiple sclerosis who has dealt with the disease with a great attitude and a strong spirit.

Washka completed the Bike MS: Pedal to the Point ride in 2009 and 2010, despite battling the steady progression of the disease. He also serves as the "Craig's Crankers" team captain.
