Weathervane Playhouse will hold regional auditions Feb. 25-27 for the 2011 summer season.

Actors of all ages, character types and skills are needed for "Little Shop of Horrors," "The 39 Steps," "Big River," "The Sound of Music" and "Chicago."

Auditions will be held at the playhouse, 100 Price Road in Newark.

Adult performers should prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo selection, 16 bars of a ballad and a one-minute monologue. Musicians who play such bluegrass instruments as harmonica, fiddle or guitar should prepare a selection.

Those auditioning for a principal part are encouraged to sing a selection from the show. All actors also will be expected to attend a dance call.

Young adults auditioning for roles as von Trapp children must schedule a private audition. They also should plan to attend the Children's Group Audition, which will run from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27. Children ages 5 through 16 who are auditioning for roles in "Big River" or "The Sound of Music" should attend. Private auditions will be scheduled for those interested in the parts of Huck Finn (ages 14-18) or Tom Sawyer (ages 14-18), as well as for children who can play harmonica, fiddle or banjo.
