Pataskala City Council on Oct. 29 waived competitive-bidding requirements and approved an emergency ordinance to purchase a new brine tank for the city's water treatment plant.
The current tank is 27 years old and is in danger of failing, said Ryan Brown, the city's water superintendent.
The new tank will cost $39,950.
City Council members wanted the new tank in place before the old one fails.
