By

Pataskala will host two public meetings to inform residents about the Broad Street paving project that is slated to begin in Granville in a few days.

The meetings are scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 22, and Wednesday, April 24, in Pataskala City Council chambers at Pataskala City Hall, 621 W. Broad St.

The Ohio Department of Transportation hired the Shelly Co. of Thornville to complete the $4.6-million project by Oct. 31.

The company will resurface state Route 16 from state Route 37 in Granville west through Pataskala to the Franklin County line.

ODOT announced April 17 that work will begin at 8 p.m. April 29 in Granville. Crews will work between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Paving will begin in Pataskala May 13.

BJ King, Pataskala's service director, said the entire seven-mile stretch of state Route 16 in Pataskala will be paved.

One lane of traffic should be maintained through construction, according to ODOT.

Robert Schroeder, Pataskala's project manager, said the state will contribute a little over $4 million for the project.

Pataskala will kick in $536,872, he said.
