Licking County: Police arrest alleged drug trafficker
Pataskala police officers arrested and charged Joseph W. Smith III, 31, of 14123-D Broad St. SW, with trafficking drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia at 8:09 a.m. Aug. 4 at his home.
Capt. Michael Boals said officers used information from a confidential informant to obtain a search warrant.
When police searched Smith's residence, they found $3,200 in cash, a white substance believed to be cocaine and another substance believed to be marijuana, Boals said.
The police report also said marijuana cigarettes and rolling papers were found at the scene.
Two other people were present when the warrant was executed but were not arrested.
In other recent incident reports from the Pataskala Division of Police:
* Police are investigating an aggravated menacing complaint filed by a resident in the first block of Harrison Street.
A suspect, whom the family reported having past issues with, drove to the home, showed residents a handgun and then drove away between 7:30 and 7:35 p.m. Aug. 4, according to the police report.
* Police assisted Aug. 5 in the eviction of two residents from the 200 block of High Street after a muzzle-loading rifle and two marijuana plants were found left behind.
The gun was found at 4:55 p.m. Aug. 5 and will be kept at the police station until the owner comes to retrieve it, the report said.
The marijuana plants were found at 5:28 p.m. Aug. 5. They were destroyed, according to the report.
* Police arrested a 35-year-old man for drug abuse at 10:55 p.m. Aug. 7 in Freedom Park, 5261 Taylor Road.
He was found with a marijuana pipe, a marijuana grinder, a pill bottle and a bag containing marijuana, the report said.
