The winners of the 2013 Hartford Village Short Story Contest have been announced.

The winners of the 2013 Hartford Village Short Story Contest have been announced.

In the category of grades one through three, first place went to Andrew Banta for My Homing Pigeon; second place went to Sarah Schnechel for The Favorite Pet; and third place went to Sara Stanifer for her untitled work about dancing.

In grades four through six: first place, Ella Wielinski, Goodbye, Grandma; second place, Chris Curran, Fluffy and the Cat Festival; and third place, Andrew Stanifer, My Favorite Thing.

In grades seven through nine: first place, Katie Applequist, City Kid, Country Kid; second place, Jacob Staniferm, and third place, Olivia Shank, The Christmas Puppy.

In grades 10 through 12, first place, Madeleine Tjolker, untitled work about music; second place, Haley Curran, Stuck; and third place, Kassidy Fiora, Blessed Life.
