Big 'O' to start trash collection Oct. 1

Pataskala officials say 30 to 40 percent of residents still need to sign up with Big 'O' Refuse, which is taking over trash collection Oct. 1.

Big 'O' Refuse was the lowest bidder for trash collection when city officials requested bids in March.

Big 'O' will charge residents $11.43 per month, plus a fuel surcharge, according to the city's contract.

John Peckskamp, vice president of Big 'O', said residents should call 740-345-2086 or visit to register.

However, Peckskamp said, all trash in the city will be picked up, regardless of whether residents register.

If residents have not contacted the company within the first two weeks of trash collection, they will be sent a letter, Peckskamp said.

He said people who have registered and ordered bins should have received them this weekend.
