The Licking County Foundation is accepting applications for 2014 Tibbie Leslie Travel Grants.

The grants provide stipends of up to $2,000 to Licking County educators who plan to travel outside the continental United States "to broaden their knowledge, experience and understanding in their particular field of interest," according to a news release from the Licking County Foundation.

Eligible to apply are teachers at any public or parochial school in Licking County and educators (teachers, instructors, professors) at colleges and universities in Licking County.

Elizabeth Randolph Leslie, known as "Tibbie," grew up in Newark, graduated from Newark High School in 1950 and from Miami University in 1954. She taught physical education at a Cincinnati high school for 30 years, and spent each summer traveling abroad with other educators, which inspired her to establish the Tibbie Leslie Educational Travel Scholarship Fund to encourage other teachers to travel. Leslie died in 1995.
