October Students of the Month for Granville High School and Granville Middle School were recognized at a recent Granville Rotary meeting.

October Students of the Month for Granville High School and Granville Middle School were recognized at a recent Granville Rotary meeting.

They include Granville High School senior Kosta Morris, the son of William and Mary Morris, as the High School Student of the Month. The younger Morris is the high school student body president and a member of both National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. For two years, he has coordinated a golf tournament to raise funds for colon cancer research. He plans to study business or medicine after high school.

Lauren Westerheide is the eighth-grade Student of the Month. The daughter of Dr. Edward and Jennifer Westerheide plays field hockey and lacrosse and is a ski club member. She was nominated by the eighth-grade team because every day she gives her best and helps others to do the same. The team described Westerheide with words including "courteous, attentive, helpful, leader, genuine, self-motivated and dependable."

Josie DeCaro is the seventh-grade Student of the Month. She is the daughter of Rick and Shauna Spence. DeCaro is active at school with cheerleading and track. She also likes tumbling, camping and 4-H.

The seventh-grade team described DeCaro as "a very conscientious young lady who is interested in learning and doing her absolute best at everything. ... She is always there to lend a helping hand or step in if someone needs help."
