Pataskala City Council Nov. 18 agreed unanimously to pay an employee an additional $75 a day for serving as acting city administrator.

The legislation states the funds would be paid in addition to the employee's current salary.

City Council President Dan Hayes said a few employees have said they would be willing to act as an interim administrator until the city can hire an administrator.

He said the committee reviewing the position has not yet appointed anyone to serve in the interim.

Hayes made the motion to pass the legislation as an emergency, which was approved unanimously.

The city's charter states in section 4.07 that legislation passed as an emergency takes effect upon passage.

City Council in October voted against renewing City Administrator Timothy Boland's contract, which expires Dec. 31.
