Pataskala officers investigate bomb threat at school

The Pataskala Division of Police spent three days in the Licking Heights Local School district recently, investigating incidents.

Officers investigated a bomb threat at 10:49 a.m. Dec. 5 at Licking Heights Middle School, 6565 Summit Road.

Pataskala Police Capt. Michael Boals said a custodian found the threat with graffiti on a bathroom wall in the school and cleaned the graffiti before students arrived.

School officials reported the threat after the graffiti had been cleaned off the wall, he said.

Boals said students were moved to other parts of the building while a team from the Ohio Fire Marshal's Office searched the school for any signs of a bomb.

Nothing was found, he said.

Other recent police reports involving incidents at the schools included:

* Police cited a 17-year-old female for assault at 10:35 a.m. Dec. 9 at Licking Heights High School, 4000 Mink St.

The victim, who is 15 years old, reported the crime happened between 10:10 and 10:35 a.m.

No injuries were reported, according to reports.

* Police also are investigating the theft of a purse containing $300 taken sometime between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. Dec. 3 from a car parked at Licking Heights Middle School.

A passenger window was damaged in the incident, according to reports.

In other recent Pataskala Division of Police reports:

* Police are investigating a "road rage" incident that occurred at 2:25 p.m. Dec. 4 on Summit Road at Cable Road.

Capt. Boals said a fight was reported in the area, but both people involved had left the scene before police arrived.

Both people involved in the incident later reported it to police, Boals said.

He said the incident stemmed from a "road rage type thing," which ended in a physical fight.

During the fight, a cellular phone was thrown into a ditch and damaged.

Boals said he does not believe charges will be filed in the incident.

* Police arrested three people for being under the influence of alcohol or drugs on the same day.

Police arrested a 40-year-old man for being under the influence at 1:37 a.m. Dec. 8 in the 5000 block of Summit Road.

Police arrested a 26-year-old man for being under the influence at 12:24 a.m. Dec. 8 on Broad Street at Connors Avenue.

Police arrested a 35-year-old man for being under the influence at 9:02 a.m. Dec. 8 on Broad Street at Township Road.
