The Pataskala Division of Police has charges pending against a 17-year-old boy for possession of drugs, drug trafficking, theft by deception and falsification after investigating an alleged robbery.
Detective Joshua McGeorge said a 16-year-old boy's mother reported a robbery at 6:46 p.m. Jan. 21 in the first block of Oak Meadow Drive.
The 17-year-old suspect supposedly took $100 and used a handgun, according to the police report.
McGeorge said the boy used a pellet gun.
The 16-year-old thought he was purchasing $100 in drugs, McGeorge said, but the older boy did not intend to give him the drugs.
Instead, the 17-year-old was attempting to retrieve money he thought had been stolen from him by the 16-year-old, McGeorge said.
"Out of that (robbery report) developed a drug trafficking case against the 17-year-old, who set up the whole thing," McGeorge said.
McGeorge said charges are pending after further review by the Licking County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
