The Republican slate of candidates running for Licking County Commission in the May 6 primary Election is down to three.
Brad Feightner, 54, a Newark resident who served as commissioner from 2009-13, has taken his name out of the race.
"I turned in my notice to withdraw (from the election) a couple of days ago due to my current job," Feightner said.
Feightner said he turned in his petitions to run for Licking County Commissioner before he was offered a job as regional sales manager for the Ohio Lottery Commission.
"They (my employer) say it is a conflict of interest," Feightner said. "It could be a conflict so I don't want to do anything to interfere with my employer."
The candidates left include Republicans Rick Black; Mike Fox, a member of Pataskala City Council; and Doug Kanuckel.
Democrat Mark Van Buren, a Harrison Township trustee, and Libertarian James Snedden are expected to run unopposed in the primary.
The candidates are running to replace Republican Doug Smith, who will retire as commissioner at the end of his term after serving since 2005.
