Newark Elks Lodge 391 recently donated $2,000 to the Licking County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Firestone said each state Elks Association must have a "state major project," and Ohio's is cerebral palsy. Local Elks applied to have some state money allocated to Licking County, and because the board of developmental disabilities serves people with cerebral palsy, the Elks chose to donate $2,000 to that group. Licking County Special Olympics received $1,000 from the Elks.
